Cape Fear Museum explores the history, science and cultures of the Lower Cape Fear through exhibits and educational programs. Visitors are encouraged to discover the man-made and natural world around them through the interpretation of historic artifacts of the region and hands-on scientific inquiry.
Museum fundraising efforts are governed by Cape Fear Museum Associates, Inc. (CFMA), a nonprofit 501(c)(3) whose purpose is to solicit and receive contributions and donations for the Museum. CFMA ensures the success of the Museum through fundraising, grant writing, programs, membership and promoting the Museum’s mission throughout the community.
Cape Fear Museum is a department of New Hanover County. Museum operations are governed by the elected county commissioners who appoint a 12-member citizens advisory board that is responsible for policy development, advising on programs and operations and community awareness.

Our Mission: Cape Fear Museum of History and Science collects, preserves and interprets objects relating to the history, science and cultures of the Lower Cape Fear.
The CFM Associates Board meets in the Williston Auditorium every other month on the first Wednesday at 4:15 PM. The 2019-2020 meetings are on the following dates: August 7, October 2, December 4, February 5, April 1 and June 2.
